It's about clean air

Only about 30 percent of our nation's electricity comes from clean air sources, with about 72 percent of that coming from nuclear energy. The rest comes from hydro plants (7%), wind and solar (about 2%). In order to combat the increasing levels of greenhouse gasses, which hasten the detrimental effects of climate change - we need to increase this percentage of clean air energy.

Why nuclear?

Nuclear is the only clean air energy source that can reliably and efficiently produce energy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It's there when you need it.

President Barack Obama, State of the Union Address, January 27, 2010:

"But to create more of these clean energy jobs, we need more production, more efficiency, more incentives. That means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country."
